I knew from the age of 4 what I wanted to do with my life–I wanted to be a police officer so that I could help those who needed it most. I pursued my dream and served the community for 13 years with dedication and pride before leaving my chosen profession to practice law.

I proudly served as an officer with the St. Joseph Police Department, Columbia Police Department, and Los Angeles Police Department, and as a part-time investigator for the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles including as a street crimes investigator, field training officer, SWAT, use of force/tactics advisory group, forensic evidence team, and narcotics investigator. I also served as the president and vice president of the Columbia Police Officers Association (FOP Lodge #26). I am a Certified Force Science Advanced Specialist and a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s (FLETC) Police Legal Advisor Training Program.

I have instructed and advised officers, deputies, sergeants, lieutenants, captains, and chiefs on policies and procedures, use of force, internal affairs, training, personnel, and various legal and other matters. For over 11 years, I worked with Lexipol, LLC – most recently as the Vice President of Policy and Learning Content.
